It burrows under your skin and drains your magic.

Being a teenage sorceress is hard, especially when you work with the police.

“This is a Hunger.” He showed us a tiny mechanical snake, no bigger than my index finger and carved with runes.

My magic shook its head, and I pressed my back against the pillar, the ropes straining as I shifted as far away as I could. I didn’t want that thing anywhere near me. Something about it was extremely sinister; the runes whispered of blood, betrayal, and pain.

He continued. “It burrows under your skin and drains your magic, to be stored for later use. If it stays in long enough, your magic won’t regenerate.”

Getting to know the author:

"1. Who is your favorite character from your newest release? And why?"

My favorite character is Scandal Becker. She has a bit of a bad girl to her, but she is also a sweetheart.

"2. How do you balance work and home life? "

I'm not as good at it as I should be. I try to give myself some time to rest after work, then spend my days off working on housework and writing. I also try to work in short writing sprints when I can.

"3. First Paranormal romance book you read? "

Anything by Heather Marie Adkins. I can't remember the exact title but she had just become my friend on Facebook, so I bought a boxed set that she was in, and her story was the first one in there.

4. Do you Google yourself? If so did you laugh or find it interesting?

I don't usually. There is another author with my exact name, and its kind of depressing to see that I don't matter as much as she does haha.

"5. How do you select the names of your characters? "

Sometimes I just like names that I hear on TV or something like that. Other times I write a story around the name, like I did with Of Curses and Scandals.

"6. If you didn’t write, what would you do for work? "

I would hope to be an actress or own a movie theater.

"7. What is your writing Kryptonite? "

Time management I think. I give myself a rest and then I don't want to actually do any work.

"8. Who are you reading now? "

Melissa De La Cruz

"9. Do you have a special playlist for writing? "

Sometimes. They tend to be bouncy, upbeat songs to keep me inspired.

"10. Last, if you could go back before you published your first book and do it all over again, would you? All the hard parts and easy strides."

Yes. I have loved publishing and I know that I still have a ton to learn, but just hearing from one person that they enjoyed my book is enough to push me to keep writing.
