Get Your Elf ON!

Get your elf on with Prince's Elven Heir-

I, Mina Κόκκινο, was carrying the future king or queen out of wedlock. “Hey, do you remember when Jack had that woman over telling us about his future?” David stared outside. “Yeah,” I said trying to let him distract me. “I remember after you walked away to use the bathroom, her eyes went all funky and she spoke about a prophecy.” David elbowed me gently. I pushed back my hair and bit back my anger at being more human than elf. Earth had advanced their technology so greatly that when they found Iyvis, they agreed to send women to help repopulate the little planet. Three decades earlier ninety percent of the female elf population had become barren. King Sandor himself had been lucky be born in that time of uncertainty but he never gained siblings. “Really? A prophecy about Jack?” I sighed heavily. I didn’t have time for stupid quacks. I may have lived with elves, but seeing the future was still crap in my book. “There will comes a day when the red lady reveals her true self, a broken promise shall bring a time of peace.” David recited the two lines in a funny voice then touched his pointy ears. “Jack is a royal elf so the lady seemed pretty sure. Why would she lie to the prince?” David raised his eyebrow. “I don’t know.” Another wave of nausea threatened to come up. How in the hell was I going to raise an elf son as a flipping human? Everything, and I did mean everything, was going all wrong. “Mina, you look pale. You should sit down.” David pulled me toward the couch while we waited for Jack to finish his hand to hand combat lesson. It had been years since their little planet of Iyvis had been attacked, but the royal guard wanted to make sure Jack knew how to fight no matter what. Only a few dozen human females came on the second migration to Iyvis, but my mother had gone back to Earth instead of staying here. My father had been the product of the first migration to Iyvis and for my grandparents, it worked well, unlike my parents. “I haven’t been feeling well. Maybe I should just go home.” I rubbed my forehead, the morning sickness had been a real bitch but even now in the afternoon my stomach was uneasy, and my nose had become so sensitive I felt like a hound dog scenting every little thing. “David and Mina, my two favorite friends.” Jack beamed as he walked into the room. His eyes landed on me, and I tried to keep my lunch in place. I had to tell him soon, but I didn’t want him to get mad at me. “Excuse me.” I stood and ran for the en-suite bathroom. I barely made it to the toilet before my soup reappeared. At twenty-four, I was vomiting in the prince's bathroom, this is not how I pictured my life going when I was younger. “Breathe, Mina.” Jack’s calm voice filled my ear as his strong hand rubbed my back. “David said you weren't feeling well.” “If she’s contagious, I'm kicking her butt!” David yelled into the bathroom. Most illnesses, like colds and the flu, transcended species lines. “What I have isn't contagious.” I closed my eyes and flushed the toilet. “Then what is it?” Jack handed me a towel, concern filling his sapphire eyes. Some mistook them for brown, but I knew better. Images of our drunken night filled my mind. “I’m-” The sound of footsteps made me stop. I looked up to see Queen Petra. Her ears pointed through her brown hair right next to her crown.
