“No. Don’t even think it, Xander.” Laikyn pointed a finger at him. “I need her to help me keep Lyric calm. You’d think this was the first time she was pregnant the way she and Rowan were acting. I mean, hello, I gave birth to four, count them four, babies at once. Well, not at once, but one right after the other. From what I can see she’s only carrying one, although a big baby, that girl only has one nugget kicking inside her.”
Xan stood in the doorway, wondering what the hell that had to do with him and Breezy getting some alone time, other than it was his baby sister. “Oh kay, and that has what to do with me taking a little break with my mate, who I haven’t seen for over three hours?” He stressed the first word and did his best to look needy. Was needy a thing a male looked like? Who knew, but he was working to look as if he was in need, fearing he appeared either in pain or constipated.
Laikyn pointed at his dick, while making sure her own kids didn’t see. “It won’t fall off if you don’t get to say hello to her hooha in the next couple hours, I promise.”
“What’s a hooha, mommy?” Enzley asked, running up to them.
The arrival of Breezy saved them, for a moment.
“Breezy, is your hooha magic?” Everleigh asked innocently.
Xan groaned, watching color bloom in his mate’s cheeks as her eyes bounced from him to the small child and back. “Um, I’m not…I don’t. Lake, help a sister out here.”
“Actually, sprite, it is, but only for unka Xan. Now, you four be good while I say hello to my mate properly, then I’m off to see your father. You know he always asks for a report and none of us want me to give him a bad one.”
Enzley and Everleigh grabbed his legs, expertly climbing up with a little help from him until they were seated on his hips, two sets of hands gripping his cheeks. Everleigh spoke first. “Tell daddy we were willy willy good. Promise?”
He nodded. “Absolutely, and I’ll make sure I tell him how fast you shifted, too.”
A hint of sadness hit him from his mate, making him turn toward her. “Is everything alright, Bella?”
Breezy nodded. “Yes, everything is fine. Oh, I forgot to tell you Kellen was out by the front gate with Turo. He told me to tell you to come see him when you’re done playing, and he didn’t mean practicing.” A grin lit her face as she raised her hands making a show of air quotes when she said the last word.
He placed both girls on their feet, watching as they ran off with Laikyn and their brothers. “C’mere, bella.” He crooked a finger toward her.
Patience was a virtue, but not one he had a lot of. However, when it came to his mate, he would find as much as she needed. Something was bothering her, but she wasn’t sharing what it was with him, and that didn’t sit well with him. “Spill or I’ll have to resort to other means to get it out of you,” he murmured, letting her feel what just the sight of her did to him.
Breezy’s arms came around his shoulders. “Do you honestly think threatening me with sex is going to scare me?”
“Well, it was worth a try. Plus, it’s a win win for me, and you.” He picked her up, loving how her legs automatically wrapped around his hips. “Let’s see if my powers of persuasion have any effect on you.”
“Ack, sorry. We were hoping Laikyn could fit LeeLee in this afternoon.” Slater and LeeLee stood in the hallway leading from the tunnels.
Breezy wiggled to get down. “Are you all right?”
